FAQs

What coupling sizes are available for pipe and tubing?

Schedule Pipe: 2”, 3”, 4”, 5”, 6”, 8”, 10”
O.D. Tubing: 2”, 3”, 4”, 5”, 6”

See Dimensions & Specifications for more information.

What stocked materials of construction are available for pipe and tubing couplings?

Coupling Covers and Fasteners: Zinc Plated Steel and 316 Stainless Steel
Rings: Steel, 316 Stainless Steel, and Aluminum
Seals: Black EPDM, FDA White Buna-N, and FDA White Silicone

Note: Other materials of construction for seals are available.  Please contact us.
See Product Features for more application information.

Are the couplings or parts in stock?

Typically, all coupling configurations and listed parts are stocked and ready to ship.

What is the shipping lead time for couplings and parts?

Lead time is typically 2-4 days.

How do you install a Tuf-Lok coupling?

See Assembly/Installation instructions for installation procedure and tips.

What are the plastic clips (ring gauges) used for?

The ring gauges are depth gauges used to hold the coupling weld rings in place while they are being welded to the pipe or tubing. Coupling rings need to be positioned at the correct distance for proper installation of the Tuf-Lok coupling.

See Assembly/Installation instructions for more information.

What is the difference between pipe and tube?

Schedule pipe has an O.D. that is larger than its nominal size, whereas tubing has an O.D. that matches its nominal size. Standards for pipe schedule (wall thickness) have different dimensions than the standards for tubing wall thickness.

Why should I choose the 8-inch Extreme Duty Coupling vs. the Standard 8” Coupling?

The standard heavy duty 8” pipe coupling is suitable for most applications, but the extreme duty 8” pipe coupling allows for higher working pressure and end pull strength for extreme applications.
